Thoughts on a still morning...

On my walk this morning I was thinking about Sherry's thoughts over at http://www.toomuchaugustnotenoughsnow.blogspot.com and her thoughts on bearing witness.
Although we all have our own reasons for writing these blogs, there is one thing for sure:
We are now a witness' to each others lives through these posts.
My reasons for starting this blog was simply to keep a journal, mostly of the photos I take, the places I go and the people I meet.
I never thought of it as a open invitation for the world to 'witness' my life.
But now that I think of it, I like the idea.
In the past, people kept journals and diaries to record their lives.
Some personal, some not so much but it gives insight into a human being.
A life lived.
I was intrigued by Sherry's views on someone who had died whom she never met and grateful for the fact that I could read some of  Penny's thoughts which were recovered by another blogger.
I'm not sure why her blog and pictures were removed but I hope when I leave this earth, my blog will remain as a record of some of the things that I loved and found beautiful.
I believe that EVERY life is interesting and EACH and EVERY one of us has a story to tell.
A thought to be revealed.
An opinion to be aired.
Or maybe just a pretty picture to be shown.
I love to know what someone is seeing out of their back door.
I can read world news anytime but finding out how someone feels about a storm rolling in or the pie they just baked or the visit to the grand kids is much more interesting to me.
I think it connects us in ways in which I think the world needs to be connected.

Wonderful post. Socrates was right. The "unexamined life" is, well.... not really paying attention.
To be able to share where we live and what we do is, for me also, a way of seeing my life and others in what I call "real time". Blogging is finding folks that you would never find any other way. It's a sharing of your life and interests with another person without debt...., without the weight of liability. Sometimes there is sadness... but much more real than the fabricated and exaggerated media and "reality shows".
We all have something to share. We all have a life that is being lived, or "witnessed".... Blogging makes us understand the world and the people in it a bit better.

What a wonderful post! I started bloggin as a way to kind of corral my thoughts and leave something for my grandsons. But it's turned out to be so much more than that to me, and I feel blessed that I get to share even small little bits of another bloggers life.

We're all trying to get through our lives in the best way we know how, and to read someone elses journal type entries or to try their grandmothers apple pie recipe, or see photos of a place never visited...
I don't know... it makes me somehow feel connected to a bigger picture.
I know my life is much richer for it.

I'm so glad that I happened upon your blog Kerry. It just makes my day to take a wander through your life....and what a life you lead...always on the lookout for the extraordinary and thats what makes this read all the more uplifting. Sometimes I might miss your daily musings and find myself franticly playing catchup. You put us all to shame with your wonderful output. You are that special link that keeps our little community alive....be it up the road or on the other side of the world. Fair play to you.....
