Jammin'

Yesterday it was all about the bountiful blackberries!
This time of year, people are seen stopped at the edge of the road,
bucket in hand, gingerly gathering free fruit.
The berries are native to the Himalayas and are
a bit of a nuisance since they can be quite invasive
but in late August and early September, we tend
to overlook it's downside and rejoice in the sweet,
plump and highly nutritious bright side of the blackberry...
3 years in a row I've been making my special batch of blackberry lavender jam
with pal Regina...but first, before I went to her house,
I made a delicious blackberry, strawberry smoothie...YUM!
Then it was off to Regina's for a jammin' session.
The great thing about going to her house is that she always makes
something delicious for lunch.
Today it was a scrumptious tart of blue cheese, spinach and apples
with a quiche like base...
Oh and ANOTHER bonus is that the night before she makes a big
jug of HEAVENLY Sangria!
There are some rituals that are just plain good and fun and right.
This is one of them.
Thanks for lunch Regina!!
