Before rock and roll...

It's fun sometimes to be a tourist in your home town.
You know your way around. You see old familiar shops...
This guy's been around as long as I can remember...
I took my Birkenstocks there for repairs when I was about 17.
You get to see all the displays change in favorite shop windows...
These fun sculptures were in the Tobacconists, who's been there since the 1920's, although I'm not quite sure what the connection is between pipes and tobacco and vintage auto sculpture...
There's the weird, randomness of the city and it's people...
Barbies out for a cruise!
Sometimes it's just a classic car parked on the street that gives you reason to stop and take notice.
How could you not take photos of a Rocket 88?
Complete with it's original BCAA sticker...
And then there's the pubs!
We don't have much of a choice of watering holes in Sooke so when we go to the city we frequent a few of the favorites...
Any good reason for a pint, I say...
Then it's off for Japanese food and the Big Show!
...to be continued...

Song for Friday...a legend

Apparently we're going to a concert in the city tonight.
A rare outing for us home bodies.
Tickets were purchased.
A room has been booked.
Time to put on some city clothes.
We will be seeing a blues legend.
Johnny Winter.
I don't really know his music but I do know he's a tattooed albino.
It's definitely not a choice I would have made but Lord knows I've dragged Tom along to enough chick, folky, harmonizing, girly acts.
So 'Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo'!

Still...

At the lake this morning...
 All was peaceful and quiet...
The mist and fog seems to mask any noise...
Cottages closing up for the season.
Early morning fishing...
A romp and a swim..
...and quiet time portraits...
Lucy.
Griffin.
And Rosie.
Summer days are fading away and we are ready for fall to come over and tap us on the shoulder with her melancholy ways...
The rains have come and brought us treasured chanterelles from the earth.
Swimmers and holiday goers all gone home.

Sonnet to an apple...

Give me your ripe...
 Your red...
your huddled masses yearning to be eaten...
Your fallen...
...and puckered souls...
Let me feast my eyes on your cobwebbed beauty...
...and seek out your hidden bounty...
Fear not, because they will be devoured by a healthy, loving appetite...
Only to seek more of yee!
