Patience, my dears...

We've had some gorgeous clear days and even more clear nights.
We had a friend come out from the city to stay a few days and
we stayed up into the wee hours playing cribbage.
A few times during the course of the evening we stepped outside
and Derrek remarked that the sky looked like a planetarium!
The sky so black and the stars like fairy lights strung above us.
In the morning the van windows were painted frosty masterpieces...
I don't know what phenomenon is at work to develop such intricate designs...
...but life's beautiful little  mysteries astound me over and over!
Icy chrysanthemums etched in silvers and greys...
 Whirls of cloud shapes...
...the sun comes out to enhance the hues and add some sparkle...
A little warmth from my mitten and I can create a tiny porthole to the sunrise!
Meanwhile, inside the house I'm enjoying a dreamy summer bouquet...
...perks from working at a flower shop...
 ...leftovers from last week...
...still gorgeous for at least a few more days...
...summer will come before we know it...
 ...keep dreaming...
...in the grand scheme, it really is 'just around the corner'...

...and out came the wicked, wise and wonderful!

They came from all around, surrounding the shop with their spells and charms...
Some came in pairs...
Baring their teeth...
Whiskers twitching and tails flicking...

Some came with their Father...Hans Solo not looking impressed with the candy selection...
Dressed to the nines...
Others came in threes...it's a magic number!
Devilishly cute!
Odd little companions roaming the streets together...
Best dressed trio in the west!
Some came in flying and cawing in a murder...
Others braved the eve all on their own...
Robotic ingenuity...
Some had lost pieces of their disguise but were just as lovely!
Who's afraid of spiders? Not this little witch, nope not at all!
Even the reality shows became a reality...Duck Dynasty anyone?...
Who says batman has to be a boy and wear black?!
HOT DIGGITY DOG!
Mermaids climbed out of the sea to come pay a visit...
...and owls were all a flutter before the sun went down...
 ...does whatever a spider can!
Some just came along for the ride with moms that really got into the act...
Even my boss got in on the action...creepiest mask ever!
All in all though a good time was had by all!!!
Till next year little goblins!

Love is in the air!

This past weekend was crazy at the flower shop where I work two days a week.
Not 1, not 2, not even 3 but 7 weddings in 2 days!
There was a whole lot of flower and ribbon cutting going on.
Of course they were all quite lovely and you can have a look here at
another blog I write for the shop for more photos.
But one in particular was stunning.
I went to do a photo shoot of the flowers before the wedding on
location at Craidelonna , an amazing guest house on the coast
just up the road from Sooke.
Attention to detail is Ritchard, the caretaker's specialty!
The wedding was that of Michaela and Jose from California.
Her folks live on one of the Gulf Islands near here and Andrea (mom of the bride)
organized the flowers through us.
She was an absolute joy to work with.
Craidelonna sits above the ocean overlooking
the Straight of Juan de Fuca...
Let's head down to the set up...
The bride requested a wild flower country look for her bouquet and Karen's
 design work came through tremendously.
The colours were yellow, green and purple...
Beautifully French tied with fabric and ribbon from the mother of the bride...
We also made up these two vintage style bird cages which were a big hit...
Hydrangeas and lavender figured prominently in the table arrangements...
Each of the arrangements were of mixed flowers as long as they
were in keeping with the colour scheme...
One of the fun elements for the reception was the addition of a vintage
typewriter for guests to leave a message for the bride and groom...the 'old fashioned' way.
We even made a corsage especially for it!

Here's a sneak peak of the ceremony area...
If you're a dog owner then you know that a four footed friend will be in attendance.
Introducing...Baxter...
A friendly old lad who just wanted to be part of it all.
Unfortunately he did not want anything to do with wearing a boutonniere!
Since the groom and his folks were from Mexico,
the brides sister made these fun pinatas...

Also on hand to celebrate the south were these lovely
paper cut out banners from Mexico...
A few more shots for you and I'll say adieu for now...

XOXO!!!
