Thursday night was the monthly meeting of the Kids Garden Club.
This is my second year helping out and since my usual partner Emily
just had a beautiful baby boy, I've now got mosaic artist extraordinaire,
Norene helping out. She came up with the brilliant idea of prepping
a bunch of beach rocks for the kids to finish off.
We did the base painting the day before...
We only have about an hour with 5 rotating groups of kids so the project we do
with them has to be fairly quick since its about 15 minutes with each group.
We'll let the kids put the spots and eyes on at the meeting...
Last year the meetings were at Annie's house but this year we've been lucky to
have access to the allotment garden just outside of the village...
Our station was under the gazebo that Maywell built...
Maywell's been feeling poorly so the first business of the evening was to sign a get well card
for him from all the kids...
Next the kids scattered off into groups and started in on various projects.
I had to stay and help Norene with the lady bugs so I mostly got photos of our table.
Spots and eyes were everywhere!!
Little hands hard at work...
Helping hands as well...
...getting artsy with star shaped spots...
BIG eyes...
tiny eyes...
Smiley eyes
lopsided eyes...
many eyes...
mouth eyes...
curious eyes...
Then it was time to take some portraits of the artists and their beautiful, finished pieces...
One station had been talking about tadpoles and frogs, so at the end of the evening
we all went over to the pond to release the little guys...
(thanks Mariah for holding your jar so still for the photo!)
All in all it was another successful garden club meeting even though the weather
was cool and rainy.
That's what it's all about.
Getting outside, hands in the soil,
examining life and all it's wonders.
Thanks for coming everyone,
See you next month!
