Song for Friday...thanks Joni

I like this picture of Joni Mitchell.
It's between then and now.
Joni Mitchell was always in my life.
My mom listened to her and I in turn carried her songs with me through out my life.
Through teen hood, first apartments, lovers, births, deaths
and so many introspective, creative days and nights.
She's my 'go to' music.
Joni turns 70 this year and is still as creative and outspoken as always.
On Tuesday CBC broadcast a  90 minute interview with her on
Jian Ghomeshi's 'Q' radio program.
here's the link
If you get a chance, take the time to listen in.
I could pick any one of her hundreds of songs that would take me back
to a summer afternoon drinking wine on the porch, a rainy backwoods
cabin, a heartache or just a beautiful drive down a country road.
I chose this one because as she says in the interview
She grew into it.
I have also grown into this song in particular and can relate
to it all the more now that I'm getting older.
It takes these life lessons and struggles and challenges to get
a perspective on life.
Makes it all the more joyful.
Enjoy and have a great weekend all!

Oh my ... that version has me sooooo choked up!
That was the first song I learned in 7th grade chorus and I used to sing it with my girlfriends. I used to think it made me melancholy even though we loved to sing it ... now it's much much deeper.

Kerri thank you so much! She was a huge part of my teenage years growing up in Ireland. How amazing it is that her deep sharing about her life and her loves touched us all so deeply. I'm off now to hear the interview. BTW Leonard Cohen also Canadian comes a close second for me:~))
