Right at home...

She's a teenager from the city.
She hails from the land of shopping malls, iPods, cell phones and laptops.
What could be more awkward than visiting her boring Aunt and Uncle who live in the sticks?
Well I say.....balderdash!
This girl fits in like an old saddle on your favorite horse...
Whether its taking the horses for a walk...
Or hanging out for hours at a time with the orphan rooster, whos become somewhat of a pet...
Or seeing the cousins for the first time in a year and getting along like a house on fire...

City kids need the country. I did.
It's what makes your roots grow deeper and stronger.
Extended family and the chance to see a different way of life. It's priceless.
Love the photos. The last one is beautiful...

by the time my kids hit high school, it was easy to see which kids had grown up around open space or at least had access to an empty field. your post (and blog) is comforting in the way you celebrate the simple important parts of life. your niece must be loving it!
