The dog who was just happy to be....

This is Harris.
He lived as a yard dog at the lumber company down the road.
We took him with us just about everyday when we went for a walk with Griffin.
We helped him through two surgeries on his back legs.
Harris LOVED to chase bears...sometimes he'd be way off in the bush and you could hear him barking away.
He was a gentle boy and loved everyone...especially when the kids came to visit.
Harris LOVED leftovers.
Harris LOVED the snow.
He was Griffin's buddy for 5 years.
We lost Harris to cancer on Friday but all who knew him,
knew that he was the dog that was just happy to be.
 So long bud.

There is something so special about dogs. They truly are, with love and a small amount of care, "just happy to be...."; some more than others.
This is a lovely tribute to a dog friend.

Harris did not regret the past or worry about the future. He lived for the moment, perhaps a great example for us humans. He protected the lumber yard against robbers, bunnies, ravens and bears for 12 years. He was also the greeting committee for friends and customers. He was a good friend and will be greatly missed.
